Brighton & Hove City Council Estates Team are looking for a talented individual to join and strengthen our collaborative and focused team. If this sounds like you, join the Estates Team at Brighton & Hove City Council as the next Senior Estates Surveyor. We're looking for a senior surveyor who will deliver on the strategic management of an incredibly varied and extensive commercial property portfolio, working as part of a professional team to support the Council Plan and deliver objectives for the benefit of the city.

A key focus of your role will be leading on disposals ensuring that these result in the best outcomes for the Council and the residents we serve. You will have the opportunity of working with a wider range of stakeholders to successfully deliver the outcomes of our Asset Management Strategy.

In this role you report to the Estate Manager and will be working in a team of 14 commercial property surveyors, project and programme managers and support staff to deliver a professional commercial property service managing the council’s property portfolios and provide expert advice on all commercial property transactions. You will also be involved in the management of two outsourced estate management contracts which deliver the day to day estate management of the agricultural and commercial property portfolios.

You will commission commercial property valuations and support the annual asset valuation process. You will use your commercial property knowledge and expertise to provide professional commercial property advice to all services across the council. You will use your knowledge of the commercial property market and valuation to provide strategic advice and recommendations to support decision-making and governance.

You will have experience of managing budgets to ensure the successful delivery of income and capital receipts to support the council’s financial plan. You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills to allow you to build constructive and collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
