About the role

Housing Services Advisor

The role of a Housing Service Advisor is to provide a first point of contact to Tenancy Services for council tenants and leaseholders.

You will have experience of communicating with customers from a range of backgrounds face to face, on the phone and digitally. You will be able to work in a high demand service, providing advice, support and signposting to council tenants. You will be skilled in discussing sometimes challenging issues in a supportive and empathic way. You will be good at keeping accurate records and you will work with colleagues to achieve the best outcome for customers.

You’ll have an ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders, an understanding of the needs of our different communities and residents, and the skills to ensure accessibility and inclusion in your work.

You will be part of a team of 14 Housing Service Advisors, 3 Team Leaders and a Manager who will support you in your role. We can offer some flexible working including a day or two working from home to support a positive work/live balance. We can also offer fully office-based arrangements as an option and we can usually offer flexibility around other commitments.

Our diverse team is based across the city in one of our three housing offices and our base is at The Housing Centre based in Eastergate Road, Moulsecoomb. On the days you are working in the office you will be in a spacious and welcoming working environment and whether working in the office or remotely, you will become part of our friendly and supportive team.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if you apply on a part time basis.

We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing in the way we work whilst providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
