Contractual hours: 37 hours per week, Fixed Hours

As a Social Worker / Senior Social Worker, you will support the delivery of statutory duties under the Care Act and related legislation, and provide mental health services to individuals, families and carers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing advice to staff about proportionate and personalised responses to service users and their carers.
  • Helping to embed consideration of strengths and relationship‑based practice in all assessment processes.
  • Providing a specialist view and/or intervention in the assessment and management of risk.

Key qualifications and experience:

  • Qualified social worker.
  • Confidence and experience in safeguarding vulnerable adults and risk assessment.
  • Understanding of the importance of information and advice in supporting people to maintain independence and well‑being.
  • Warranted Approved Mental Health Act Professionals (AMHPs) are encouraged to take part in the rota arrangements for AMHP provision across the city.

We welcome applications only from qualified and Social Work England registered Social Workers. In addition to the key duties, the post holder will receive regular supervision and support, and opportunities for ongoing development and specialist training, including AMHP training, subject to Local Authority selection. Starting salary will be pro rata if the role is less than 37 hours or term‑time only. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Check.
