Location: Hill Park Special School, Foredown Road, Portslade, BN41 2FU

Hill Park School is a three-site special school for pupils aged 4-16 with a range of learning difficulties. We are seeking a Grade B Teaching Assistant to join our Primary team.

Job Details

Salary: £27,254 - £27,694 pro rata + Special Schools Allowance

Contractual hours: 12 per week (Thursday & Friday)

Hours per year: 47.36 (inclusive of holiday entitlement)

Fixed term: Until 31 August 2027

Start date: September 2026

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with additional needs and provide individual and group support.
• Assist with classroom teaching tasks and adapt learning materials.
• Maintain a calm and resilient environment for pupils.
• Administer appropriate care and support for pupils with physical needs.
• Work closely with teaching staff to meet the educational plans and personal development goals.

Qualifications & Experience

• Maths and English qualifications at GCSE level or equivalent.
• Experience working with children with moderate to complex learning difficulties is desirable.
• Strong commitment, patience, and a calm manner.
• Ability to adapt skills, maintain flexibility, and respond to pupils’ needs.
• Resilience to manage challenging environments.
