Run the clinical services floor of a genuinely modern independent pharmacy β€” with a dispensing robot handling the volume so you can spend your day in the consultation room, not at the bench.

About us: Brighton Hill Pharmacy sits at the heart of a three-site independent group in Basingstoke, serving over 18,000 patients and dispensing 30,000+ items a month. We are the hub site, with Meditech robotic dispensing, EPS, free local delivery, and our own patient app for repeats. We've spent five years building the operational side properly so that clinical work isn't squeezed into the gaps.

This role exists because we want a prescriber leading services, not a dispenser who occasionally prescribes.

Why now: Independent prescribing moves to the centre of community pharmacy from autumn 2026. We're building the clinic model, the pathways, and the room now β€” ahead of commissioning β€” so that whoever joins us shapes it rather than inherits it.

What you'll be delivering:

  • NHS services
    • Pharmacy First β€” full clinical pathways across all seven conditions (sore throat, UTI, sinusitis, acute otitis media, impetigo, infected insect bites, shingles), including gateway consultations and appropriate referral
    • NHS Contraceptive Service β€” initiation and ongoing supply of oral contraception, plus emergency contraception
    • NHS Blood Pressure Check Service β€” case-finding, ABPM, and onward referral
    • Seasonal flu and NHS vaccination programmes
    • Clinical oversight of dispensing β€” accuracy checking, robot-supported workflow, intervention and safety culture
  • Private clinics
    • Weight management β€” full clinical assessment, GLP-1 initiation (Mounjaro, Wegovy), titration, monitoring and ongoing patient support
    • Travel health clinic β€” risk assessment, vaccination course planning, antimalarial supply. We're a designated Yellow Fever centre
    • Micro-suction ear wax removal β€” otoscopy, procedure and aftercare
    • Vitamin B12 injections β€” assessment, administration and review

As an Independent Prescriber:

  • Prescribing within your scope of practice across our private and NHS service lines
  • Developing new prescribing-led clinics with us β€” we have the patient base and the room; we want your clinical judgement on where to take it
  • Working alongside local GP practices and PCN colleagues on shared-care and referral pathways

What we're looking for:

  • Essential
    • GPhC-registered pharmacist in good standing
    • Independent Prescribing qualification (or completing an IP course with a start date agreed β€” we'll consider strong candidates mid-qualification)
    • Confident, patient-facing consultation skills and sound clinical reasoning
    • Comfortable working to PGDs, SOPs and clinical governance frameworks
    • Right to work in the UK (we are a licensed sponsor and will consider Skilled Worker applications for the right candidate)
  • Desirable
    • Existing Pharmacy First and contraception service experience
    • Vaccination and injection technique certification (or willingness to complete β€” we'll fund it)
    • Micro-suction training
    • Experience with Titan PMR
    • An interest in how technology changes pharmacy β€” we build a lot of our own tooling and welcome opinions on it

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • A dedicated consultation room and protected clinic time
  • Robotic dispensing and a strong support team β€” you won't be firefighting the bench all day
  • Genuine input into service design across all three sites
  • Pension / holiday allowance / GPhC fees paid / parking
  • A route into wider clinical and operational leadership as the group grows
