Are you interested in developing your skills and knowledge in supporting students with SENd in the classroom? Our Specialist Learning Support role offers you the chance to specialise and train in a core area of need within SENd. Any additional training will be fully funded, and we have access to fully accredited courses that can be completed alongside your working hours. We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and committed person with good literacy and numeracy skills to join a friendly, supportive and ambitious department which has been newly developed to provide highly effective provision for our SEND students. As a school we continue to strive to provide the best outcomes for all of our students.

Responsibilities
- Carry specialist responsibility and support/mentor other staff in developing skills and knowledge
- Support/mentor students with their engagement, attendance and progress in school
- Regularly liaise, monitor, meet and communicate with students in their care under the banner of their specialist field
- Support SEND students in the classroom and faculty allocating to access learning and make expected progress
- Complement and support the professional work of the Teacher to support tasks and learning activities
- Provide best practice resources and share ideas to support the progress of SEND students within the faculty
- Prepare support for tasks and activities, pre‑learning, responsive support in the classroom and additional interventions
- Collaborate with teacher within the allocated faculty regarding curriculum and prepare for support activities
- Liaise with external agencies to invest and support specialist area as well as build CPD knowledge
- Take ownership for liaising and disseminating key CPD and strategies to support students and teaching staff
Essential Qualifications
- Ability to establish positive and effective working relationships with students and colleagues
- Capacity to develop an in‑depth understanding of student needs, to support them with effective approaches to learning and development
- Commitment to participate fully in all areas of school life
- Commitment to undertake additional training to support student needs
- Willingness and engagement with educational research
- Ability to adapt practice and contribute towards the extensive SEND vision
Desirable Skills
- Experience of working within an educational setting; leading small group and 1:1 intervention sessions
- Experience supporting students with a specific or specialist area of need
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant
- Relevant GCSE qualifications or equivalent qualifications, skills, or experience
Working Hours
32 hours 45 minutes per week, Monday – Friday, term time only.
