Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Painter and Maintenance Operative.
Reporting to: Deputy Head of Facilities Services (Maintenance)
Main purpose of the role: The purpose of this post is to ensure the smooth and efficient provision of painting services to all schools and properties within Brighton College.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Applying paint, stain, varnish and other finishes to a high standard with minimal supervision.
- Using brushes, rollers or spraying equipment.
- Working with the team to calculate the materials needed for a project.
- Removing old paint or wallpaper by sanding or scraping, or by using heat guns, liquid paint removers or steam strippers.
- Cleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures when project is complete.
- Any other reasonable management request.
Person Specification:
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
- Painting & Decorating Level 2 NVQ.
- 3+ years of experience painting and decorating.
- The ability to deliver on deadlines.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic computer skills required for checking and updating work orders, ordering supplies and online training.
- To be flexible and have a positive attitude to work within a team framework.
- The ability to interact with all types of people with courtesy and tact.
- The ability to work competently alone or as part of the team.
Required to be on the out of hours maintenance rota (on completion of probation).
Desirable:
- Plastering experience would be beneficial but not essential.
- General maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to erect working platforms and towers.
Hours of Work:
This role will work 40 hours per week, from 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday inclusive with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break each day.
Remuneration:
The salary for this role is £29,254 per annum. On completion of probation you will be expected to go onto the on-call rota, for which you will be paid.
Holidays:
23 days, plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service.
