College Protection Officer (Nights) Location : Brighton Salary: £25,168 per annum Brighton College is seeking to appoint a College Protection Officer (Nights) on a permanent basis. Main Purpose of the Role: To be one of the first points of contact for visitors, staff and pupils visiting Brighton College, as well as on-site residents, on call officers and the nursing team. For this role excellent communication skills, whilst being able to manage situations in a calm manner, are essential. Candidates must hold a current SIA Door Supervisor licence. General Duties and Responsibilities To provide Security/Concierge Front of House presence on College properties. To be proactive regarding the security of the College, Prep School, and offsite premises. To be alert for possible intruders. To deal with pupils, staff, governors and visitors in a calm, friendly, and helpful manner. Unlock and secure exits, entrances and buildings on College premises at designated times. Random patrol of College grounds and buildings. Respond to alarms (fire, burglar etc). Respond to emergency calls from staff, pupils and the Health Centre. Man the Security Lodge when not patrolling the sites. Ensuring the safety and security of pupils and staff on campus. Ensuring the safety and security of al premises. Monitoring of traffic and traffic control. Ability to interact with all types of people with courtesy and tact. Basic investigation and report writing. Respond to fire evacuations and escalate when required. Record keeping and fob tasks. Person Specifications The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas: Genuine interest in working in a school setting. Excellent communication skills. Ability to stay calm in demanding situations. Friendly and approachable manner. Ability to work as part of a team. Good IT skills. Experience of night shift work. Must hold a current SIA Door Supervisor licence. Hours of Work Monday to Friday, 11.00pm to 7.30am with a 30 minute unpaid break (40 hours per week). Due to the nature of the role, there will be a requirement to work some bank holidays and during periods of shutdown (e.g. Christmas). Overtime, at generous rates outside of core hours, is available on occasion. Remuneration The salary for this role is £25,168 per annum. Benefits Contributory pension scheme with matching contributions from the employer up to 9%, which all eligible employees will be automatically enrolled into within three months of commencement of employment.
