Brighton College Prep School is seeking to appoint a Post-Graduate Assistant Teacher (Prep Sport) to start as soon as possible. This is a fixed-term position until the end of Trinity 2026, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate. We are looking for a graduate who is passionate about sport, has a love of learning and who wishes to share that passion with enthusiastic and energetic young people. Experience in netball is essential, and in swimming and athletics is desirable, although not essential. We are looking for a graduate with excellent administrative skills, patience and flexibility who is also willing to undertake essential routine administrative tasks across the whole department. The post would best suit someone considering a teaching or coaching career, although no teaching experience or qualification is required.
Role Specification
- Coaching netball to pupils in Years 3 to 6.
- Teaching PE to pupils in Reception to Year 6.
- Assisting with the teaching of swimming to pupils in Years 1-6.
- Coaching teams and games sessions from Years 3-6 as appropriate in netball, hockey, tennis, athletics, football, rugby and cricket (including some weekend fixtures).
- Officiating as appropriate in netball, hockey, tennis, athletics, football, rugby and cricket.
- Team teaching and assisting experienced subject teachers in classroom situations.
- Running or assisting with extracurricular activities as required.
- Assisting with weekly departmental administration (experience in using SOCS desirable).
- Assisting with the organisation of swimming galas, sports days and tournaments.
- Undertaking school duties.
- Being a full member of the teaching staff.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
- This role will involve daily contact with pupils, and the successful candidate will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
