Location: Brighton, UK

Hours: Full-time considered up to a maximum of 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours). Requests for flexible working options will be considered (subject to business need).

Grade: 7 starting at £38,784 to £46,049 per annum, pro rata if part time.

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract

About the role

As an Assistant Professor (Education and Research) in the School of Engineering and Informatics, you will be responsible for the planning, delivery and assessment of innovative high-quality teaching across all levels, including lecture based and hands-on practical teaching, along with final year project supervision and varied student support. Experience of working with industry partners and employability is beneficial.

You are also expected to carry out high-quality research that fits within the School of Engineering and Informatics, and that aligns with the University strategic themes such as sustainability and digital futures. Research outputs will be demonstrated through high-quality publications and/or grant applications. You will collaborate internally and externally to build networks and generate third stream income and/or consultancy.

You will engage with the department and school by contributing to activities such as admissions days, department/school meetings, and taking part in other events such as the final year poster exhibition.

About you

The successful applicant will have a PhD in a relevant discipline and/or proven track record of industrial experience. Appropriate experience in teaching and research in subject areas that align to the School of Engineering and Informatics is essential. You will have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with staff and students and be an effective and supportive team player.
