Join Brighton & Hove GP Federation to strengthen primary care in the city. We are looking for two proactive Waste Audit and Environmental Officers to deliver full‑time (1.0 FTE) support to GP practices across Brighton & Hove. This role focuses on clinical waste compliance and environmental sustainability through the RCGP Green Impact for Health Toolkit.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a coordinated programme of clinical waste audits across all GP practices, ensuring compliance with NHS and supplier requirements.
- Conduct site visits, complete standardised audits, and produce clear reports with practical recommendations for improvement.
- Identify opportunities to improve waste segregation, reduce costs, enhance compliance, and support environmental sustainability.
- Support practices to complete the RCGP Green Impact for Health Toolkit, review progress, identify gaps, and develop tailored action plans.
- Provide hands‑on guidance, templates, and support to help practices achieve full accreditation and embed sustainable working practices.
- Build strong working relationships with practice managers, clinicians and system partners, acting as a trusted point of contact.
- Coordinate delivery across all practices, maintaining schedules, tracking progress, and ensuring milestones are met.
- Keep accurate records and provide regular updates to the Federation and stakeholders, highlighting risks or issues when needed.
Qualifications
- GCSE grade A to C/9 to 4 in English and Maths.
- Degree level education in Sustainability, Environment, or a related field.
Experience
- Experience of project delivery across multiple sites or organisations.
- Experience of audit, quality improvement or compliance work.
- Understanding of sustainability in healthcare.
- Familiarity with the RCGP Green Impact for Health Toolkit.
- Experience supporting environmental accreditation programmes.
- Knowledge of clinical waste regulations and compliance.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Primary (NHS) or general practice experience.
