You will shape and oversee the full content ecosystem - from the BrightLocal Academy to educational guides, campaigns, and thought leadership - ensuring everything we produce is effective, on-brand, and built to perform. This role blends creativity with structure: you will set the vision, define the strategy, build the frameworks, and lead the processes that make great, scalable content.
What you will do
- Strategy and leadership
- Own and evolve a content strategy that supports business goals and strengthens our brand.
- Turn strategy into clear roadmaps, priorities, and measurable goals.
- Lead and mentor two Content Managers, plus a wider group of contributors, helping them do their best work.
- Partner with Leadership, Product, and Customer Success to spot opportunities that drive growth and engagement.
- Represent content at a senior level, championing its value across the business.
- Content planning and creation
- Build and oversee an integrated content calendar across channels.
- Set clear editorial standards for tone, structure, and storytelling, keeping our voice consistent and human.
- Guide the creation of content that informs, educates, and converts, from BrightLocal Academy modules to campaigns and customer stories.
- Make complex topics simple and actionable, so our audience feels confident, not overwhelmed.
- Optimization and measurement
- Build a culture of continuous improvement through performance tracking and insight.
- Ensure content is optimized for search, user experience, and engagement.
- Adapt strategy as the search landscape evolves.
- Use analytics to demonstrate the impact and return on investment of content.
- Governance and process
- Design clear workflows for briefing, creation, review, and approval.
- Protect and strengthen BrightLocal's voice through strong editorial governance and quality control.
- Innovation and growth
- Stay ahead of trends in content, AI, and digital marketing.
- Test new formats and channels to expand our reach and relevance.
- Look for opportunities to create those small "aha" moments that make our content stick.
About you
- You have strong experience in content strategy and editorial leadership within SaaS, tech, or digital marketing. Experience targeting SMBs or agencies is a bonus.
- You have built and executed content strategies that deliver measurable growth.
- You understand SEO, the evolving search landscape, and how to optimize content for performance.
- You are a confident, supportive leader who knows how to develop and inspire creative teams.
- You communicate clearly and collaborate well with senior stakeholders.
- You are organized, data-driven, and creative, able to balance big-picture thinking with hands-on delivery.
