Location: Manchester

Payroll Advisor

Purpose: To work as part of our Bright Payroll Advice team ensuring clients remain compliant with legislation and best practices related to payroll processing, reporting and taxation. The role involves providing legally compliant advice and payroll assistance to clients by telephone, supporting individual client needs, highlighting non‑compliant options and ensuring clients are aware of associated risks. The Payroll Advisor also helps clients design and implement best practice payroll strategies.

Hours of Work

Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5 pm

Day‑to‑day responsibilities

  • Provide advice and guidance on payroll policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and best practices.
  • Log all advice accurately on the internal system, taking ownership of ongoing cases.
  • Provide clients with supporting information and documentation to assist them.
  • Present internal training and external webinars.
  • Own cases to resolution, building rapport and relationships with clients on each interaction.
  • Assist clients with payroll audits, reviews and compliance checks.

Key Requirements

  • Deep understanding of UK payroll legislation and tax regulations.
  • Previous experience delivering or managing payroll services, ideally within a Bureau environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and payroll systems and platforms.
  • CIPP qualified, or suitably qualified by experience.
  • Excellent ability to build and maintain positive client relationships.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Brand ambassador qualities for BrightHR and its sister companies.
  • Able to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
