An established business based in the Colchester area is looking for an experienced Workshop Manager / Production Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of its workshop and production operations. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys managing people, organising production, solving problems and making sure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
You will play a key role in coordinating the workshop team, planning workloads, managing production schedules and ensuring projects are delivered on time and in line with customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day running of the workshop and production operation.
- Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet customer deadlines.
- Allocate workloads and resources across the workshop team.
- Lead, support and develop workshop staff, ensuring clear expectations and effective communication.
- Interpret client briefs, drawings and project requirements where required.
- Monitor project progress and identify and resolve issues before they affect delivery.
- Ensure work is completed efficiently, accurately and to the required quality standards.
- Maintain accurate production records and update internal systems.
- Coordinate multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Drive improvements in productivity, quality, organisation and workshop efficiency.
- Ensure the workshop operates in a safe, professional and well-organised manner.
- Take a hands-on approach when required to support the team and keep production moving.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and organised manager who can take ownership of workshop and production activities. You may currently be working as a:

- Previous experience managing a workshop, production environment or manufacturing operation.

- A proactive, practical and hands-on approach.
- Good IT skills and confidence using production or business management systems.

Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm. Overtime may be available depending on workload and production requirements.
