Interim Operations Manager, Manufacturing

Location: Edinburgh | Contract: Short-term interim

Bright Purple is working with a well-established engineering, manufacturing business in Edinburgh. They’re looking for an experienced operations leader on a short-term contract to give their day-to-day operations extra leadership and planning support.

This is a hands-on interim role for someone who can walk onto a shop floor, get a feel for the operation quickly and start making a difference from day one. You’ll work closely with the senior leadership team to bring structure, clarity and pace to how the business runs day to day.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead day-to-day operations on the ground, working with supervisors and teams to keep production planned, organised and on track. You’ll put structure and routine into operational planning, spot where things can run better and act on it. A big part of the role is being visible: leading by example, supporting the team and making sure standards are understood and kept to.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience as an Workshop Manager, Operations Manager, General Manager or Engineering Manager in a manufacturing environment
  • A track record of hands-on leadership and getting results quickly
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to bring structure to a busy operation
  • Confidence working with people at every level, from the shop floor to the boardroom
  • Available at short notice and comfortable working on an interim basis

It would be a real bonus if you have

  • Continuous improvement experience
  • A background in lean manufacturing
  • A solid grounding in health and safety

Interested?

If you’re an experienced manufacturing leader who enjoys rolling up your sleeves and making an immediate impact, we’d love to hear from you.
