Edinburgh (Hybrid – 2–3 days per week) | £450–£475 per day | Inside IR35

Bright Purple are recruiting for an experienced Oracle & WinForms Developer to join a well-established investment technology team delivering enhancements and continuous improvements across a portfolio of business-critical applications. This role is ideal for a contractor who enjoys working within complex enterprise environments, balancing hands‑on database development with application enhancement work across mature systems that are central to daily business operations.

The Opportunity

You’ll become part of a collaborative development team responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and modernising a suite of front‑office applications used by investment professionals. The focus is on delivering incremental improvements, reducing technical debt, and supporting ongoing business change initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and enhancing enterprise applications built on C#/.NET WinForms
  • Designing and maintaining Oracle PL/SQL database objects including procedures, packages, functions, and scheduled jobs
  • Supporting the ongoing evolution of business‑critical systems and processes
  • Investigating and resolving complex technical issues within existing applications
  • Working closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions
  • Participating in technical design, peer reviews, testing, and release activities
  • Contributing to technical debt reduction and application modernisation initiatives

Essential Skills

  • Strong commercial experience with Oracle PL/SQL
  • Solid background in C#/.NET WinForms development
  • Experience working with complex Oracle‑backed applications
  • Strong SQL and database design skills
  • Azure DevOps and Git source control experience
  • Agile delivery experience within collaborative development teams
  • Ability to work across the full software development lifecycle

Desirable Experience

  • .NET Core and modern web technologies
  • Entity Framework, Angular or TypeScript
  • CI/CD practices and DevOps tooling
  • Service‑oriented or microservice architectures
  • Financial services or investment management environments
