Data Architect | Contract Edinburgh, Hybrid £525 to £600 per day Inside IR35 Initial 6 months Bright Purple are looking for an experienced Data Architect to join a major data transformation programme in Edinburgh.
This role sits at the heart of the technical data architecture, translating wider architecture principles into practical, buildable solutions across data ingestion, processing, storage, integration and consumption.
Youll work closely with data engineers, platform engineers, software engineers, modellers and governance teams, defining the technical patterns and guardrails that engineering teams will actually build against.

Strong practical Data Architecture experience Modern cloud data platform architecture Snowflake and Oracle, or comparable OLAP and OLTP technologies Advanced SQL and strong ELT and data transformation knowledge Data warehouse and lakehouse architecture Batch, event driven and analytical data patterns APIs, integration and orchestration Logical, physical and semantic data design Metadata, catalogue and lineage implementation Data security, privacy and access control patterns Dev Ops/Data Ops, CI/CD and infrastructure as code awareness Strong understanding of performance, scalability and cost optimisation Youll define reusable architecture patterns across pipelines, platforms, APIs, events and analytical services, while ensuring security, data quality, observability, resilience and operational support are designed in from the outset.
This is an initial 6 month contract, Inside IR35, paying
£525 to £600 per day .
The role is hybrid in Edinburgh, with a minimum of two days per week in the office.
There are no fixed anchor days.
