The Role
We are seeking a caring, proactive and patient 1:1 Special Educational Needs Support Assistant to join our toddler/preschool room team. You will be working with children who each have individual needs, providing tailored support to help them engage, learn and develop within a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personalised 1:1 support for three children with different additional needs, adapting strategies to suit each child.
- Work in partnership with the SENCO, room leader, therapists, and parents to follow and adapt individual learning and support plans.
- Promote each child's independence, communication skills, and social interaction through play and structured activities.
- Ensure the children's emotional well-being and safety at all times.
- Keep accurate records of progress, observations, and next steps.
- Contribute to the wider life of the nursery, supporting all children as needed.
About You
- Experience working with children with SEND in an early years setting (essential).
- Knowledge of strategies to support communication, sensory needs, and emotional regulation.
- A warm, patient and resilient approach with excellent communication skills.
- Relevant childcare/SEN qualification (Level 2/3 in Early Years or equivalent) preferred.
- A genuine passion for making a difference in children's lives.
