About the Practice
This busy small animal practice in Romford is looking to welcome an enthusiastic and experienced full-time Veterinary Surgeon to join a large, well‑established clinical team. The practice is home to a highly skilled workforce of 13 vets, 12 registered veterinary nurses, 10 student nurses, and 10 receptionists, creating a collaborative and supportive environment where high‑quality patient care is the shared priority. Conveniently located, the practice offers free on‑site parking and excellent transport links, with central London reachable in approximately 25 minutes and the Essex countryside just 20 minutes away. Both City and Southend Airports are also easily accessible, making this an ideal location for commuters and those seeking a balance between city life and green spaces.
Role Overview
The team benefits from a broad range of clinical interests, spanning internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and orthopaedics, which helps create a stimulating and varied caseload. The surgery itself is purpose‑built to industry‑leading standards and is exceptionally well equipped, featuring two dedicated operating theatres, digital radiography, ultrasound, and an in‑house laboratory. In addition, the practice offers advanced diagnostic and treatment options including full endoscopy and CT scanning, with continued investment into new equipment to further enhance the services provided to clients and patients.
Skills & Experience
Due to the busy and diverse nature of the caseload, applicants must have existing UK experience and be confident managing routine consultations as well as occasional sole charge. Strong diagnostic and medical skills are essential, alongside competence in routine surgical procedures. They are therefore seeking candidates with a minimum of three years’ experience, including solid exposure to internal medicine. Just as important are excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible approach to practice, and a genuine passion for both client care and teamwork. You will be confident communicating with clients, delivering outstanding customer service, and contributing positively to the wider practice culture.
Working Hours
The full‑time working pattern is structured across four weekdays, with a fair and manageable weekend rota of one in six full weekends and one in six Saturdays only. For the right candidate, part‑time hours will also be considered, offering flexibility to suit individual circumstances.
Benefits
In return, the role offers excellent career development opportunities supported by a generous CPD allowance and funding toward certificate‑level study. A competitive salary of up to £80,000 is available, alongside a contributory pension scheme and paid professional memberships including RCVS, BVA, and VDS. The practice also benefits from a dedicated on‑site day and night team, ensuring true 24/7 care for all patients, as well as access to exclusive company discounts and rewards.
Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated Veterinary Surgeon looking to progress their career within a forward‑thinking, well‑resourced, and supportive practice environment.
