Bright Leaf Recruitment

Overview

This Veterinary Group in Hartlepool is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its growing and supportive team across its three sites. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse looking to further develop their clinical skills, share their knowledge with colleagues, and play an active role in a progressive and expanding practice.

The practice provides small animal care across four sites, with its original Hartlepool branch having served the local community since 1950. Situated on the North East coast, the practice benefits from easy access to beautiful beaches, picturesque countryside, and the historic cities of Durham and York. As part of its continued growth, the surgery is relocating into a larger, purpose-built facility that will include advanced diagnostic equipment such as CT imaging. Existing facilities across the group already include ultrasound, digital and dental radiography, endoscopy and laparoscopy.

Professional development is a key focus. Team members are encouraged to pursue advanced certificates in areas such as medicine, anaesthesia and surgical nursing, reflecting the commitment to continuous learning and career progression.

Work Hours & Schedule

The role offers flexibility to suit a range of lifestyles, with both full‑time and part‑time applications welcomed. Full‑time hours are typically worked over four days from 8:00am to 7:00pm, with participation in a shared Saturday rota. There are no out‑of‑hours commitments, Sunday shifts or bank holiday working requirements, allowing for an excellent work‑life balance.

Responsibilities

This is a varied nursing position that encompasses: nurse consultations, inpatient care, theatre duties and, for those with an interest, Schedule 3 procedures. The successful candidate will also be involved in monitoring patient wellbeing, assisting with diagnostics and treatments, communicating with clients, and maintaining high standards of patient care throughout their journey within the practice.

Qualifications & Experience

Seeking a motivated and conscientious individual who takes pride in delivering excellent clinical and client care. Building strong relationships with clients is particularly important, as many have been with the practice for many years. An interest in mentoring future veterinary professionals is also desirable, with the successful candidate either already acting as a Clinical Coach or willing to undertake the role in the future.

Benefits

  • Salary up to £30,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience
  • Six weeks paid holiday including bank holidays (pro rata)
  • £600 annual CPD allowance
  • Paid RCVS membership, VDS cover and additional professional membership subscription
  • Enhanced family leave policies
  • Discounted veterinary fees
  • Company sick pay and health and wellbeing support
