Working Hours: Full-time, four days per week on a locally agreed rota, including one in four Saturday mornings.
My client on the outskirts of Newcastle is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its friendly and supportive team. The successful candidate will provide a high standard of clinical nursing care to a diverse range of small animal patients, supporting both routine procedures and emergency cases. Working alongside Veterinary Surgeons and the wider practice team, the Registered Veterinary Nurse will play an important role in maintaining excellent standards of patient care, promoting animal welfare, and ensuring clients and their pets receive a positive and professional experience throughout their time with the practice.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding nursing care to both inpatient and surgical patients, ensuring they are monitored closely and their needs are met throughout their treatment.
- Support surgical procedures, maintain anaesthesia, assist Veterinary Surgeons, and provide appropriate post‑operative care.
- Undertake nurse consultations and clinics, administer care as directed by Veterinary Surgeons, prepare laboratory samples, carry out in‑house diagnostic testing, and assist with radiography procedures.
- Accurately complete clinical records and maintain high standards of documentation.
- Support the wider practice team when required, including assisting with client communication, appointment management, payment processing, and providing a high level of customer service.
- Educate clients on responsible pet ownership and support the ongoing promotion of animal health and welfare.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a caring, confident, and proactive Veterinary Nurse who is passionate about providing excellent patient care. They will have strong communication skills, a professional approach, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Applicants must be a fully qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse with current registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). They should have confidence in all core areas of veterinary nursing and possess strong communication and client care skills. Previous experience in developing or delivering nurse‑led clinics would be advantageous. Additional experience with processing insurance claims, clinical coaching, or supporting student Veterinary Nurses would also be beneficial.
