This large practice is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join the team as a Development Lead. This key leadership position focuses on supporting clinical excellence, developing veterinary talent, and providing mentorship to help clinicians achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • The Team Leader will guide the professional development of recent veterinary graduates and early‑career clinicians, support clinical governance, and maintain the highest standards in line with the RCVS Code of Conduct.
  • They will oversee clinical training, act as a VetGDP Advisor, and work closely with the Lead Vet to identify development needs and implement appropriate support.
  • Responsibilities include providing line management and mentorship to recently qualified Veterinary Surgeons, supporting the Clinical Operations Lead and Practice Manager with the development of more experienced team members, delivering training sessions, contributing to clinical development initiatives, and supporting performance reviews, career discussions, and goal setting across the team.
  • The role also involves maintaining and improving clinical standards through governance activities, supporting clinical audits, reviewing performance within their area of responsibility, and ensuring company protocols and high standards of patient care are consistently upheld.
  • Additional duties include attending site leadership meetings, deputising at Lead Vet meetings when required, and collaborating with senior colleagues to support the smooth day‑to‑day running of the practice.

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates are MRCVS or FRCVS Veterinary Surgeons with strong clinical experience, a genuine passion for mentoring and developing others, VetGDP Advisor accreditation, and excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.

Working Pattern

The role offers a 38‑hour working week across a four‑day schedule, with a fixed day off on Thursdays and approximately one Saturday in nine for weekend commitment.
