Part-Time Veterinary Surgeon –Medical cases only - Islington

50–75% of full-time hours

My client in the Islington area is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and expanding team in the heart of Islington. This opportunity would suit a vet with a few years’ experience in small animal practice who has a particular interest in Small Animal Medicine, Feline Medicine, Dermatology or Ophthalmology.

The role would also appeal to a veterinary surgeon who already holds a relevant postgraduate certificate, is currently studying towards one, or is keen to pursue further qualifications in their chosen area of interest.

This is an established first-opinion practice with a loyal client base and a varied caseload. The team comprises three vets, two qualified veterinary nurses, two student veterinary nurses and three receptionists, creating a welcoming and collaborative working environment. Clinical development is encouraged, with one of the vets holding a postgraduate certificate in Small Animal Surgery and another working towards a certificate in Diagnostic Imaging, with a particular interest in cardiology. Their complementary interests provide opportunities for sharing knowledge, discussing cases and supporting ongoing professional development.

The practice is equipped with in-house laboratory facilities, digital radiography and ultrasound, enabling the team to undertake a broad range of diagnostic investigations and manage many cases on-site. There is also a continued commitment to investing in equipment and expanding the clinical services available to patients.

This is a non-surgical position, making it particularly attractive to a vet who wants to focus on consultations, medical case management and diagnostic investigations. Surgical experience is not required, and routine surgery will not form part of the shifts. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to investigate cases thoroughly, build lasting relationships with clients and their pets, and further develop their own clinical interests while contributing to the practice’s future growth.

The role also includes some weekend shifts This will be approximately one weekend in twelve or one in nine. Depending on the agreed part time hours

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Veterinary Surgeon looking to develop a clinical niche within a supportive team, while enjoying a role focused on medicine, diagnostics and high-quality first-opinion care.
