About the Practice
The practice's excellent location provides exposure to a wide variety of cases and a wonderful, loyal client base. The friendly team consists of 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 3 RVNs, 1 SVN, 2 VCAs and 5 CCAs. Approximately 60% of clients are insured. The practice is a busy, wellâequipped, purposeâbuilt facility designed to industryâleading standards.
About the Candidate
Applications are welcomed from experienced RVNs as well as confident newly qualified veterinary nurses who are comfortable working across all areas of practice. The successful candidate will support the daily running of the practice, ensuring a high standard of care for both patients and clients. Veterinary nurses are at the heart of the practice and play an integral clinical role in patient care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, take pride in working to a high standard, and show an interest in learning about the business side of the practice. An ability to motivate and support the team in achieving both personal and practice goals is key. Success in this role will come from embracing all aspects of the Veterinary Nurse role while consistently delivering outstanding patient and client care.
About the Role
This is a fullâtime position with a 1 in 4 weekend rota, working Saturdays from 9 am to 6 pm, and no outâofâhours requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct treatments in line with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3 procedures, such as injections, medication administration, fluid therapy, dressings and first aid as directed.
- Take Xârays, assist with diagnostic procedures, anaesthesia, support the veterinary surgeon during surgeries, and provide postâoperative care.
Additional Duties
- Nursing inâpatients (including some intensive care), pain scoring, implementing appropriate enrichment for longâstay patients, triaging patients for veterinary attention.
- Dispensing medications in accordance with professional guidelines, and maintaining accurate and upâtoâdate clinical records.
Reception & Client Service
A dedicated reception team is employed at the surgery; however, excellent customer service skills are essential when dealing with client queries and conducting nurse consultations. The role involves close collaboration with the Practice Owner and senior team members to ensure the smooth dayâtoâday running of the practice, as well as proactively contributing to the ongoing development and success of both the practice and the team.
