Lead Veterinary Surgeon – Greater London
An exciting opportunity is available for a Head Veterinary Surgeon to take an active role in shaping the future of an established clinic in Greater London. This position offers genuine autonomy, allowing the successful candidate to bring their own personality, ideas and leadership approach to the practice while building strong relationships within the local community.
The Head Vet will play an important part in creating a welcoming and positive environment for both clients and colleagues. Alongside maintaining excellent clinical standards, they will have the opportunity to develop the team, encourage a supportive culture and help the clinic continue to grow. Building lasting relationships with clients will be an important part of the role, with a focus on delivering an experience that encourages clients to return and recommend the practice to others.
The ideal candidate will combine strong clinical skills with excellent communication and a genuine interest in people. They will be passionate about achieving good patient outcomes while understanding the importance of trust, continuity and high-quality client communication. The role will provide the opportunity to take ownership of the clinic's development, grow its client base and recruit, lead and support a strong practice team.
Clinically, the Head Vet will undertake consultations and procedures, oversee patient care and monitoring, and ensure that admissions, discharges and clinical handovers are managed appropriately. Maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records will also be an important responsibility, together with prescribing medication and completing dispensing checks. Where patients require out-of-hours or enhanced care, the Head Vet will ensure appropriate arrangements are made for their transfer and that clients receive clear updates regarding their pet's treatment and wellbeing.
The role also includes responsibility for responding to client concerns or complaints within the clinic and ensuring clients remain informed throughout their pet's care, particularly following procedures or where ongoing monitoring is required.
As part of the wider team, the successful candidate will also be required to work one full weekend in six at the 24-hour hospital, together with two Bank Holidays per year
