Supportive, flexible, and friendly practice with room to grow. My client is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join an expanding, close-knit team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a vet seeking clinical freedom, career development, and a genuine work-life balance.
Located near the scenic Heybridge Basin and just a short hop from London, our practice is perfectly placed for those who enjoy both nature and city access. Proudly serving the local community for over 10 years and continue to grow steadily.
You will be working alongside a welcoming and talented team:
- 2.5 Vets (including a recent graduate)
- 5 skilled RVNs
- 1 Student RVN
- 2 Veterinary Care Assistants
- 5 dedicated receptionists
They also collaborate with a visiting small animal surgery certificate holder, offering the chance to be involved in orthopaedics and advanced soft tissue surgery.
What You Can Expect
They see a full range of small animal cases (dogs, cats, small furries, and occasional exotics), with a varied surgical caseload including:
- Neutering and dentals
- Lump removals and wound management
- Ophthalmic procedures
- Emergency surgeries (pyometras, C-sections, foreign bodies, cystotomies)
Well-equipped practice includes:
- In-house lab
- Digital x-ray
- Ultrasound
- Multi-parameter monitoring
The Role
40 hours/week (typically 4 days, 9am–7pm)
- 1:4 weekends (Saturday 9–6, Sunday 10–4)
- No out-of-hours – Vets Now handles emergencies
- Part-time/job share options available
- Bank holidays shared fairly
- Christmas Day & New Year’s Day closed
This role is ideal for a confident small animal vet ready to take the next step, or someone looking to develop a clinical interest – they are happy to support certificates and ongoing CPD.
