Veterinary Surgeon – East London. Step into the energy of East London and join a practice that’s as dynamic as the community it serves. They are looking for a full-time vet to become part of its growing team — a team that blends clinical excellence with genuine camaraderie. This is a busy, well-established first-opinion practice in the borough of Newham, eight minutes’ walk from the nearest DLR station. It’s a prime location for city living with fast links across London and into Essex, and a loyal client base that values the personal care they provide.

You’ll be working alongside a brilliant senior vet who’s clinically sharp and passionate about mentoring. The team includes a senior RVN, dedicated trainee nurses, and a regional manager who provides invaluable support and insight. Together, they foster an environment where learning is encouraged and collaboration is second nature.

The role offers a 40-hour working week, including a 1-in-4 Saturday rota and a 1-in-8 Sunday rotation at the Veterinary Hospital nearby. You’ll also be scheduled for up to two bank holidays per year and included in the last-resort on-call and twilight rota for the hospital. An induction will include a hospital orientation day to ensure you’re fully prepared before your first shift.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a busy GP setting with confidence in routine surgeries and dentals.
  • Ability to work independently while receiving full support for complex cases and out-of-hours care from the hospital team.
  • Contribute to patient care using access to CT, advanced ultrasound, scopes, laparoscopic equipment, and specialist support.
  • Participate in Sunday shifts to build ECC skills and experience.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and teamwork within a supportive environment.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon.
  • Comfortable with routine surgeries and dentals in a busy first-opinion practice.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced GP setting with collaboration and mentoring available.
Benefits & Salary
  • Salary ranges from £45,000 to £61,000 FTE, depending on experience, with room to grow.
  • Generous benefits: 6.6 weeks of annual leave (including bank holidays).
  • Private medical insurance with Bupa.
  • Up to £2,000 CPD budget per year and five days’ paid CPD leave.
