My client in Liverpool is looking to recruit a supportive and nurturing Head Veterinary Surgeon who is passionate about both delivering excellent clinical care and developing the people around them. The role would suit a confident general practitioner who leads by example, enjoys mentoring colleagues, and takes pride in creating a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.
This position would be particularly appealing to a veterinarian who is considering further involvement in a business, either now or in the future, as the role evolves. The successful candidate will work closely with a Partner, contributing to the clinical direction of the practice and helping to support its continued growth and long-term success.
The practice is well equipped and is due to undergo refurbishment in the near future. Facilities include digital X-ray, ultrasound, a new laparoscopy system and a dedicated dental suite. The team also benefits from access to advanced imaging, surgical facilities and hospitalisation through a nearby 24-hour hospital, enabling the management of a wide range of cases.
This is a full‑time position based on a four‑day working week, with participation in a rota of one in three Saturdays. The role offers an excellent opportunity to combine leadership responsibilities with hands‑on clinical work, while also providing clear prospects for career progression.
A comprehensive benefits package is provided, including private medical insurance, a health cash plan, 24/7 counselling and wellbeing support, and life assurance at three times salary. Annual leave begins at five weeks plus bank holidays and increases with length of service.
Professional development is strongly encouraged through a £1,500 CPD allowance and three days of paid CPD leave annually, as well as access to clinical communities, internal CPD opportunities, funded certificates and structured internal career pathways.
Further support includes participation in the Head vet bonus Scheme, payment of RCVS, VDS and BVA fees, and assistance with relocation or visa sponsorship where required.
