Great opportunity for a vet looking for a part time role in Leeds area: A part‑time Veterinary Surgeon position is available for 24 hours per week, offering a salary of up to £36,000 per annum (£60,000 full‑time equivalent), depending on experience. The role follows a fixed shift pattern, with consulting hours on Wednesdays from 9:00am to 6:00pm and Thursdays from 9:00am to 8:00pm. Standard appointments are 30 minutes for sick pets.

In addition, the successful candidate will participate in one in four weekends, covering shifts between 7:30am and 8:30pm. Weekend work focuses exclusively on ECC and pre‑booked emergency consultations. The Veterinary Surgeon will work alongside a full clinical team, including management support and three vets per shift as standard, managing hospital inpatients, same‑day emergencies, and ECC procedures and surgeries.

The veterinary team is carefully structured to ensure a balanced mix of skills and experience across medicine, consulting, and surgery. The hospital benefits from in‑house certificate holders in surgery, medicine, and dentistry, providing strong clinical support. The successful candidate will receive a £1,000 annual CPD allowance, with certificate sponsorship actively encouraged, and will be part of a proactive in‑house CPD and clinical development team.

The wider hospital team consists of 70 colleagues, including 15 vets. There is particular interest in candidates with experience in ophthalmology, dermatology, or feline medicine, with the opportunity to develop dedicated referral clinics in these areas. The hospital has significant referral potential through 19 surrounding practices that refer into the hospital’s out‑of‑hours and existing referral services.

The practice is also open to supporting a part‑time arrangement where the candidate supplements the role with ongoing locum work. The benefits package includes RCVS, BVA, and BSAVA memberships, a £1,000 annual CPD budget, pension, life insurance, and income protection.
