Full-time or part-time | No out-of-hours | 1 in 4 weekends | Flexible working
Are you looking for a veterinary role that offers more than simply another job? This practice in Leeds could be somewhere a little different.
This family-run practice has built a genuinely friendly, supportive environment where people are encouraged to have a voice, share ideas and enjoy real clinical freedom. Located in North-East Leeds, on the edge of Yorkshire’s Golden Triangle, the practice is thriving, well organised and forward-thinking, while retaining the personal feel that comes from being independently run.
The team includes four partners, alongside four additional vets, eight RVNs, three SVNs, two VCAs, four receptionists and a full-time Practice Manager. It’s an experienced, close-knit group where support is readily available and everyone has the opportunity to contribute.
A role designed around a better work-life balance
The practice understands that being a good vet is only one part of having a fulfilling career. Working patterns are therefore designed to give people genuine flexibility, with opportunities to work between 20 and 40 hours per week, a regular day off, 1 in 4 weekends and no on-call or out-of-hours work.
The rota is already planned through to the end of 2027, giving the team plenty of notice and making it much easier to organise life outside work.
The practice also takes a flexible approach to the overall package. Rather than focusing solely on salary, the partners are keen to understand what matters to each individual, whether that is additional annual leave, CPD, working hours, salary or another benefit. The aim is to put together a package that reflects the vet’s experience, ambitions and lifestyle.
Salaries can reach £65,000 for recently certificate-qualified vets who take on additional responsibilities.
A practice that values its people
There is a strong emphasis on making the working day manageable and enjoyable. Lunch breaks are protected, consultations finish 45 minutes before closing and reserved consultation breaks are built into the day, giving vets time to catch up on messages, review results and complete essential admin.
The team believes that vets should be able to finish work feeling that they have actually finished for the day, rather than carrying a list of unfinished jobs home with them. Finishing on time is genuinely encouraged.
Clinical development is another important part of the role. The practice has an impressive breadth of expertise, with certificate holders in surgery, cardiology and dermatology, alongside vets currently developing their own areas of interest, including behavioural medicine.
The team carries out a broad range of advanced work in-house, including BOAS surgery, orthopaedics and cardiac work-ups, allowing vets to retain ownership of cases from investigation through to treatment and follow-up. Referral is kept to a minimum where appropriate, giving clinicians the opportunity to work through interesting and challenging cases themselves.
The facilities support this approach, with endoscopy, ultrasound, digital and dental radiography and AI cytology available within the practice.
For a vet who enjoys getting to the bottom of a case, developing their skills and seeing patients through their full treatment journey, this is a practice where there is plenty of scope to grow.
If you’re looking for a well-supported veterinary role with clinical freedom, flexibility and a team that genuinely cares about doing things well, this practice could be it
