North West London, a supportive and forward‑thinking small animal practice, is looking for a motivated Head Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) or an experienced RVN ready to step into a Head Nurse position. The practice boasts high clinical standards, a strong team ethos, and a genuinely collaborative working environment. It has experienced significant growth over the last three years and is owned by two partners with more than thirty years of combined experience. The clinical team includes 3½ vets, one RVN, two student veterinary nurses, a veterinary care assistant, a highly experienced practice manager, and visiting orthopaedic surgeons and an ultrasonographer.
Working Hours & Schedule
Full‑time, 40 hours per week, with one Saturday in every three (time off in lieu). There are no out‑of‑hours requirements, ensuring a healthy work–life balance.
Responsibilities
- Clinical coaching and support of student veterinary nurses.
- Run nurse clinics (obesity, diabetic, behavioural consultations).
- Carry out Schedule 3 procedures such as dental scaling and polishing.
- Routine nursing duties: second vaccinations and post‑operative checks.
- Support the ongoing development of the nursing team and the practice as a whole.
Qualifications & Experience
Excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, and a lead‑by‑example approach. Previous experience as a clinical coach is beneficial; full support and training will be provided for those keen to develop in this area. Must be a licensed Head Registered Veterinary Nurse or an experienced RVN ready for a leadership role.
