This veterinary practice, based in Chesterfield in the heart of Derbyshire, seeks a confident and compassionate small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join its close-knit team. The role is available on a full-time basis, with flexible options including part-time and term-time contracts. The salary starts from £65,000 (dependent on experience) and includes a one-in-four weekend rota with no out-of-hours commitments.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality small animal veterinary care and clinical treatment in a progressive, client-focused practice.
- Mentor and support a new graduate, contributing to a collaborative and respectful team environment.
- Manage consultations (standard consultations scheduled for 15 minutes, with flexibility to extend when required) and communicate clearly with clients and colleagues.
- Work within a supportive team that includes three Registered Veterinary Nurses and proactive support staff, utilising Schedule 3 responsibilities where appropriate.
- Contribute to the maintenance of clinical facilities, including operating theatre, preparation area, dog and cat wards, digital radiography, ultrasound, and Tonopen; participate in care across a variety of cases, including exotic species if interested (not a requirement).
- Embrace a culture of teamwork, respect, and delivering high standards of patient care while maintaining a positive and balanced working environment.
- Adhere to reasonable working patterns, including protected lunch breaks and regular day structure to support practitioner wellbeing.
Working Arrangements
Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The practice benefits from easy transport links via the M1 and East Midlands Airport, with on-site parking. The role includes a one-in-four weekend rota and no out-of-hours obligations. Flexible working options are available, including part-time and term-time contracts.
Facilities and Environment
Clinical facilities include a dedicated operating theatre, a spacious preparation area, separate dog and cat wards, digital radiography, ultrasound, and a Tonopen. The practice treats a variety of species and offers clinical variety for those with an interest in exotics, though this is not mandatory.
