My client are seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon to lead a supportive, progressive practice where you will be encouraged to grow and develop your special interests, as well as help them to develop too.

This role offers a competitive salary of around £70,000 on a full-time equivalent basis, dependent on experience. This role would be working 3 days a week with 1:5 Saturday mornings. There is no out-of-hours or Sunday work.

You will be joining a well-established practice at an exciting point in its development, with the introduction of innovative technology designed to support the clinical team. These systems help streamline day-to-day processes, allowing you to focus more of your time and energy on patient care. Ongoing learning is actively supported, and CPD is available to help you confidently use and benefit from these new technologies.

You will provide leadership for 7 vets and a large support team and have your own support in the shape of the Head vet, who you can rely on while you are not available. A broad range of clinical interests exists within the team, creating a collaborative and knowledge-rich working environment and they are committed to collaboration, mentoring and professional development. Certificates and CPD are encouraged and supported, and 20-minute consultations are standard to ensure a high level of clinical care. The caseload is varied, with a high proportion of insured pets and engaged, proactive clients.

Located in Chester, the practice benefits from being in a historic and vibrant city in the North West of England. Chester is renowned for its Roman walls, distinctive shopping streets and strong sense of character, while also being surrounded by attractive countryside. The city offers an excellent work–life balance and is conveniently situated less than an hour from both Liverpool and Manchester. The practice is based just north of the city centre and is easily accessible via local transport routes.

The practice runs a well-structured diary to support a healthy working day and ensure colleagues finish on time. This includes protected time for paperwork and phone calls, as well as fully blocked lunch breaks. Nurses are available throughout the day to assist with consults and to run their own nurse clinics, providing excellent clinical support across the practice.

In return, the successful candidate can expect a competitive salary of around £70,000 depending on experience, a generous CPD allowance, a contributory pension scheme and paid professional memberships.
