Location: Hybrid role – with visits to our nurseries and our HO in Northampton

The Role

The Project Manager will be part of the Property, Capital Projects and Facility Team, managing a portfolio of approximately 285 properties, including new acquisitions. The portfolio includes about 215 leaseholds and 70 freeholds across the UK, mainly in the southeast.

The team aims to ensure operational sustainability, safety, portfolio expansion, refurbishment, and cost management, adding value to the business.

The Project Manager will oversee 20-25 projects, each valued between £25k and £300k, with an annual capital spend of approximately £13m.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Review financial performance and project briefs
  • Survey, scope, and draft tender documents for refurbishments
  • Review tenders and perform value engineering
  • Manage business case preparation and obtain approvals
  • Draft contracts and insurance documents
  • Manage project meetings, snagging, and administration
  • Supervise budgets, valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Coordinate external consultants and building control
  • Manage health and safety, asbestos surveys, and compliance
  • Build relationships with colleagues, contractors, and partners
  • Support the Property Leadership Team in capital works
  • Review designs, specifications, and contractor performance
  • Analyze cost data for budgeting and planning
  • Provide technical support to facilities colleagues
  • Act as the primary contact for nursery-related queries
  • Support team members during leave periods
