Early Years Kitchen Assistant

Overview

We’re looking for an Early Years Kitchen Assistant to join our Bickley nursery. The role is 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will support the Chef in the preparation and cooking of age-appropriate food for all children in the nursery, with minimum wastage, and help keep the kitchen clean and safe. In the absence of the Chef, you will take responsibility for the running of the kitchen and ensure all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to teams.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chef in preparation and cooking of age-appropriate meals for children, with a focus on minimizing waste and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen.
• In the absence of the Chef, take responsibility for running the kitchen and communicating dietary requirements to teams.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a cooking role, in a domestic or commercial property.
• Passion for nutrition, and inspiring others in healthy eating.
• Demonstrated knowledge of managing different dietary requirements, particularly food allergies.
• Food Safety CIEH Level 2 or above (or equivalent) – to be passed on day 1 in post.
• Sound knowledge of COSHH.
• Great communication skills with colleagues, children, and parents.
• Ability to work under pressure.

Compensation

£28,184 – £29,536 PRO RATA per annum.
