The Role As a Room Leader, you will lead, mentor, support, and inspire a team to deliver exception care and education, to help all children within the room to develop and meet their individual milestones. You will promote and ensure child welfare, health and safety, and safeguarding, and maintain strong partnerships with colleagues, parents, and other professionals to meet each child’s needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, support and inspire a team of children and staff to deliver quality early years care and education.
- Provide a positive learning environment, that encourages curiosity and joy.
- Manage daily routines such as feeding, daylight routines and learning opportunities.
- Ensure children and staff work in a safe and secure environment and implement the child protection policy.
- Maintain an accurate curriculum and facilitate documentation and assessment as required.
- Support families in building trusting partnerships and encouraging parent engagement.
- Maintain and keep the Nursery Clean, tidy and smudge free, organise learning stations and the playing area.
- Support in the design, provision and routine maintenance of teaching resources.
- Facilitate the planning of assemblies at local schools and external community groups and provide guidance, support and feedback for staff.
- Review and improve the Quality Action Plan yearly.
- Attend and organise staff meetings, training days, conferences, and learning days.
- Ensure all safeguarding, social, adoption, child governance and welfare legislation.
- Organise training in humidity breath space and crucial hazards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Full and relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification
- Previous experience working within an Early Years setting – ideally as a Room Leader, Nursery Nurse, Nursery Practitioner, Early Years Educator or similar
- Passion for creating fun and inclusive learning environments
- Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding, Child Protection, and the wider legislative requirements for working with children
- Ability to develop trust and strong working partnerships with both colleagues and parents/carers
- Ability to use a variety of communication techniques with both children and adults
