About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Group Accounting & Tax Specialist based in Burton on Trent to drive international (IFRS) group accounting, execute active month-end closing routines, and manage corporate tax coordination and transfer pricing matters for the Briggs Group.
The role works across the group with legal entities in the US and Scotland, as well as Permanent Establishments (PEs) in multiple countries, operating within an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project environment.
This is a senior specialist role requiring both tax oversight and hands-on operational accounting execution.
The finance function has a high focus on AI development and implementation in general.
The successful candidate should therefore be open to working in an environment where AI-supported tools and digital solutions are increasingly used to improve finance quality, transparency and efficiency.

Experience: Proven practical experience working within an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) organization or a complex, project-related engineering business is essential to understand long-term contract accounting and project-driven financial flows.
Background: Suitable for a candidate with previous experience in an international group, audit/advisory environment, regional finance function, or shared service/group reporting setup.
Technical Proficiency: Deep working knowledge of IFRS reporting, local GAAP reconciliations, cross-border corporate tax compliance, and transfer pricing rules.
Key Responsibilities
- Support IFRS closing activities for the Briggs Group, with particular focus on consolidation, accounting, revenue recognition and tax matters.
- Execute and manage comprehensive month-end and year-end closing activities for the Briggs Group, ensuring strict adherence to reporting timelines and financial accuracy.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, local finance partners and internal group stakeholders.
- Review material accounting matters to ensure completeness, accuracy and plausibility of financial reporting.
- Support accounting and finance-related matters concerning international permanent establishments.
- Review intercompany transactions, reconciliations and related documentation from an accounting and tax perspective.
- Support AI-related development and implementation activities within the finance function where relevant to accounting, reporting and data quality
- Review and validate material project accruals, provisions, manual journal entries and foreign currency valuations.
- Support intercompany loan accounting, interest calculations and reconciliations where relevant for group reporting and tax alignment.
- Required Qualifications and Experience
- Must-have Requirements
- Degree in accounting, finance or a comparable field.
- Around 10 years of experience in accounting (IFRS) and Corporate Income Tax preferred within an international group environment.
- Strong exposure to corporate tax matters and the ability to work with external tax advisors.
- Practical experience with SAP FI/CO.
- Experience with transfer pricing, intercompany transactions or group-related finance topics are preferred.
- Good English skills are required; Chinese language skills are an advantage but not mandatory.
- Structured, reliable, analytical and hands-on working style.
- Preferred Qualifications
- ACCA, CPA or comparable professional accounting qualification.
- Expertise at the interface between accounting and corporate income tax matters.
- Practical exposure with branches, permanent establishments or international tax/accounting structures.
- Interested in AI-supported finance tools, digital finance applications or finance data initiatives is a plus.
- Familiarity working within multinational group structures would be an advantage.
