We are looking for a Projects Accountant to join our Finance team at Briggs of Burton. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Head of FP&A, Project Managers, and senior stakeholders, playing a key role in driving financial insight and supporting strategic decision‑making across the business.
About the Role
The Projects Accountant will be responsible for all project‑related financial activities, including month‑end close, financial reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis. You will ensure robust financial control, compliance with UK GAAP, and provide high‑quality insight to support project delivery and profitability. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, advanced Excel capability, and the confidence to partner with operational teams and challenge performance where needed. Experience with SAP and exposure to project accounting environments is essential. Knowledge of Chinese GAAP would be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month‑end closing processes for projects, including revenue recognition and cost adjustments
- Support PIT and POC accounting under UK GAAP
- Monitor project profitability and investigate variances
- Maintain and update project forecasts and cost‑to‑complete analysis
- Provide variance analysis and management reporting
- Run SAP financial processes including AP/AR close, production order settlements, and test runs
- Support revenue reporting and submissions via Lucanet
- Partner with Project Managers to challenge assumptions and improve forecasting accuracy
- Support audit processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with 5+ years post‑qualification experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or Mathematics
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in project accounting (manufacturing or engineering preferred)
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP (Chinese GAAP desirable)
- Experience with SAP and financial reporting tools (Lucanet advantageous)
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders
