The Role
The Technical Rating is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all machinery and electrical equipment onboard the vessel and carry out the role of GP Rating.
The contract will be to support The Ministry of Defence around the coast of the UK delivering various aspects of marine training including Aircrew Marine Survival Training, Target Towing and Range Clearance duties to support the armed forces.
Key Responsibilities
- To be familiar with details of vessel’s construction, machinery and operating characteristics.
- Undertake relevant pre‑departure checks before a sea passage, including ensuring the vessel is fully prepared for the voyage, taking into account factors such as stability, stress, trim, and watertight integrity, and confirming that sufficient bunkers are available for the voyage, including reserves.
- Reports any deficiencies to the Master and Technical Superintendent.
- Carry out regular inspections of machinery and machinery spaces to ensure continuous awareness of the condition and operational capability of all equipment.
- Keep all engine room records as required by the Company and other authorities and ensuring that they are completed neatly and accurately.
- Being familiar with all safety equipment onboard and participating in safety drills and training to always ensure the highest operation standard of the vessel.
- The Candidate
- Seagoing experience in a demanding environment.
- Knowledge of the technical operation of the installations of designated equipment.
- RYA Powerboat Level 2.
- ENG1 Medical.
- Approved Engine Course 1.
- Training according to STCW Regulations.
- Complete MOD security clearance (must be resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years).
