The Role involves overall responsibility for maintenance and repair of all machinery and electrical equipment (deck and engine) onboard the vessel. Building effective relationships with external stakeholders to instill trust and confidence in the Company. Shift pattern is 3 weeks on/1 week off.
- Consult at least daily with the Master to achieve the maximum economy consistent with the minimum efficiency required.
- Keep the Master fully informed of any occurrences in the engine room or deck equipment which might affect navigation or the essential services under his or her control.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Oil and Environmental Pollution Prevention Legislation and ensure that all responsible crew are familiar with Emergency Procedures, Contingency Plans and capable of operating all Safety and Pollution Prevention equipment and appliance.
- Ensure that all Planned Maintenance and both normal and emergency repair work is carried out.
- Make regular inspections of machinery and machinery spaces.
- Be responsible for the bunkering of the vessel and ensuring that the quantity and quality is as ordered.
- Arrange all transfers of fuel/lubricant oil/ballast/fresh water and check plans with the Master prior to actioning.
The Candidate should have an Approved Engine Course Level II, training according to STCW Regulations, and a proven track record of working on small vessels. Knowledge of the operational processes of the vessel, ICT Office applications and fleet management systems, as well as experience with the operation of all technical installations on board is required.
