The Role offers an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Assistant Yardman / Stock Controller to join Briggs Marine at our Burntisland, Fife site on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a hands-on role within a busy yard environment, where you’ll gain experience handling a wide range of marine stock and equipment across a large operational site. We’re looking for someone willing to learn, develop, and build a career within the role. Previous experience in a warehouse, stores, or yard environment — or operating equipment such as a counterbalance forklift or telehandler — would be beneficial, but full training will be provided.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Carry out goods handling and distribution in a safe, secure, and efficient manner.
  • Ensure all goods are stored correctly and in line with current legislation.
  • Maintain accurate stock control and inventory management.
  • Keep clear and comprehensive records.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in full compliance with Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, site regulations, and industry best practice.
  • Carry out housekeeping duties, maintaining yard areas in a clean, organised, and safe condition.

Required skills/knowledge:

  • Competent IT skills – Full Microsoft Software and others desirable.
  • Small or Large plant and equipment experience desirable i.e. counterbalance forklift, telehandler, overhead crane, etc.
  • Driving Licence required.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn new skills.
