The Role involves taking all necessary actions for safety, security, pollution prevention and the efficient operation of the ship under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
Principal Responsibilities:- Assisting the Chief Engineer in the safe operation and maintenance of the ship’s machinery
- Fulfil requirements as required under the Planned Maintenance schedule
- Bunker operations with Chief Engineer
- Maintenance of Counter Pollution and Deck equipment as appropriate
- Engine room watch keeper
- Assisting the Chief Engineer as required testing stand-by systems on a regular basis and in accordance with Company and regulatory procedures
- Comply with pollution prevention requirements
- Maintain inventory of Mechanical spares
- Assist with deck operations as required by the Master
- Form part of the vessels Emergency team
- Take control of Engine room fire parties
- Organise and manage seamen when working in the Engine room
- Maintain Oil record book and Engine room logbook
- Undertake training as required to comply with Company regulations and legislative requirements
- COC required 2nd Engineer
- STCW III/3
- STCW Advanced Firefighting and Fire Prevention
- STCW Personal Survival Techniques
- STCW Proficiency in Survival craft and rescue boats
- STCW Medical care on board ships certificate
- STCW Personal safety and Social responsibility certificates
- STCW Security Awareness
- STCW Designated Security Duties
- Enclosed Space training
