The Role
The Terminal Operator is generally responsible for the safe receipt, storage and delivery of bulk products of a flammable or hazardous characteristic, including the general upkeep and security of the establishment. You will be required to work a Shift System as determined by the operational demands and provide an appropriate level of cover for staff holidays and sickness.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor tank levels, temperatures, pressures, and product quality.
- The correct operation of all Terminal Drainage Systems, Interceptors and Outfalls and adhering to procedures regarding the release of water from such systems.
- Sampling product before receipt, in storage and on delivery.
- Testing product samples as required.
- The operation of Terminal Pumping Systems for all product imports, exports, vehicle returns, transfers and line stripping.
- The operation of all Road Vehicle loading equipment being able to assist with loading of Road Tankers as required.
- Check and clean Line Filters and Pump Filters as required.
- Supervision and control of contractors utilising Permit to Work controls.
- Reporting any hazards, near misses, incidents, or any other safety related item.
- Carrying out Terminal Housekeeping Duties as required.
The Candidate
Normally, a high standard of secondary education will have been attained and/or previous experience in hazardous chemical plant operations will be required for selection for this role. Good numeracy and written communication skills. Able to read line diagrams and use them in the diagnosis of faults, as well as the subsequent isolation and decontamination of plant and equipment. A good level of computer literacy.
