The Role

For the role of bulk liquid loader, the post holder will be responsible for overseeing the loading of Caustic Soda to Road and Rail tankers as well as exporting product to Ships and controlling the day to day activities on site. This is a shift position working four on four off 12 hour work schedule, 2 x 12 hour days, 2 x 12 hour nights followed by 6 days off. (4 on 6 off) this also includes 20 day breaks each seven sets. An element of flexibility is required with this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Confirm the details of the requested load when drivers present their movement order for loading and whether the tanker barrel is suitable for the load.
  • Carry out safety checks of both rail and road loads and confirm whether the driver is familiar with using the road loading equipment, as the tanker drivers themselves complete the loading process.
  • Train the drivers in the loading operation and explain the safety features and PPE requirements.
  • Prepare and print the dilution sheet to present to the driver and carry out cross check that the correct amount of water has been loaded and the driver is on the correct bay.
  • Ensure safe operation of the bulk loading asset.

The Candidate

Normally, a high standard of secondary education will have been attained and/or previous experience in hazardous chemical plant operations will be required for selection for this role. Good numeracy and written communication skills. Able to read line diagrams and use them in the diagnosis of faults, as well as the subsequent isolation and decontamination of plant and equipment. A good level of computer literacy.
