The Role involves maintaining and repairing a diverse range of electrical and mechanical equipment, playing a vital part in our innovative subsea cables division.
Principal Responsibilities:- Be a key part of the engineering maintenance that goes into maintaining and repairing cable handling equipment.
- Assisting in the mobilisation and demobilisation of cable equipment for off-shore projects.
- Ensure safe working practices are always followed.
- Complete periodic and condition-based maintenance, completing premobilisation checks on equipment.
- Logging all maintenance records on system.
- Troubleshooting on electrical/mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Inspect and overhaul valves, motors, pumps and other hydraulic components.
- Maintain housekeeping in workshop and ensure all work areas are clean and tidy.
- Safe operation of machinery, hand tools, lifting equipment.
- Provide input into the specification of new equipment from a maintenance and operational point of view.
- Report any problems that have occurred or any questions to the Production Manager.
- Provide guidance to apprentices in department and mentor them on their apprenticeship pathway.
- Full UK driving license.
- Time served/significant experience in a Mechanical / Electrical technician role.
- Hydraulic fault finding & diagnosis would be advantageous.
- Electrical fault finding and diagnosis.
- Understand technical drawings and information.
- Experience using maintenance scheduling and logging software.
- HNC (or equivalent) in engineering trade or relevant experience.
- Good time management.
- Basic IT skills in Word and Excel would be an advantage.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
