The Role: The Deckhand (AB) / Cook has responsibility for providing all catering services in a safe and hygienic manner in addition to taking all necessary actions for safety, security, pollution prevention and efficient operation of the ship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out all orders and instructions in a safe and efficient manner
- Form part of a mooring and anchoring party
- Ship husbandry tasks
- Ship operational tasks i.e., Mooring work, Support to trial teams, Loading and unloading
- Operate deck machinery when suitably trained or qualified
- Provide catering services for 7 crew and clients onboard the vessel
The Candidate:
- Previous practical hands-on experience in an AB/Cook position on board a similar vessel
- Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards
- Previous experience of providing meals on board and maintaining hygiene standards of all areas, i.e. fridges, food store, galley and equipment
- AB certificate STCW
- Personal Survival Techniques STCW
- Basic Fire prevention and Firefighting STCW
- Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities STCW
- Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats STCW
