The Briggs Equipment Group is a leading provider of asset management and maintenance solutions across the UK and Ireland. The role of a Regional SHEQ Advisor is to promote and drive a positive SHEQ culture within your region and support colleagues and other stakeholders by providing day‑to‑day advice on all SHEQ related matters. Assist the company to meet its legal requirements and ensure continued compliance with company policies, ISO standards and other accreditations.

Liaise with the National SHEQ team to ensure their awareness of matters arising within the region and to create consistent and effective business‑wide communication.

The Impact you will have:

  • To promote and drive a positive approach to SHEQ and a positive SHEQ culture within your region and the wider group.
  • To provide proactive support, guidance and coaching on SHEQ matters to all stakeholders throughout your allocated region.
  • Ensure continued compliance with company policies/ procedures, ISO accreditations and other requirements within region by planning and undertaking suitable audits as per agreed targets.
  • Providing competent advice to your region on all health and safety, quality and environmental related matters.
  • Support the implementation of business projects in the fields of health and safety, quality or environment including planning and leading smaller projects.
  • Identifying areas of risk or non‑conformity and acting on them appropriately.
  • Engaging with customers, contractors, regulatory bodies, insurance loss adjusters and other interested parties on health and safety, quality and environmental related matters occurring within your region.
  • Writing, reviewing and developing various risk assessments and safe systems of work (general, COSHH, fire, transport, vibration and display screen equipment).
  • Providing advice and guidance to others undertaking incident investigations.
  • Investigating incidents/ concerns directly and implementing suitable remedial actions and communicating any findings that could affect other business units.
  • Ensuring remedial actions identified within region are completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating H&S Rep activity within the region and supporting H&S Reps in their role.
  • Chairing and attending SHEQ meetings at all levels (both internal and external).
  • Recording and analysing health and safety, quality and environmental statistics and KPI’s.
  • Supporting customers in health, safety, environmental and quality matters.
  • Supporting reviews of supplier and contractor health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Remaining up to date with legislative and best practice developments and maintain Continual Professional Development (CPD) under a structured program (IOSH).

What will help you to excel in this role:

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate (or similar level)
  • Tech IOSH Accreditation/ status
  • Significant H&S, Quality or Environmental related experience working directly within or closely linked to SHEQ related functions
  • Demonstrable engagement with and support of making SHEQ related improvements
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness
  • Self‑motivated individual with the ability to plan workload
  • Positive, proactive mindset with an ability to approach and review matters from a balanced viewpoint
  • Ability to work effectively in an individual basis or as part of a team
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Computer literate to an advanced level; Full UK driving licence;
