About Us: Briggs Equipment Group is a leading provider of material handling, powered access, plant and specialist rental equipment offering new and used sales, short and long-term hire, engineering services, training and asset management.
This is an exciting new opportunity for an Environment and Sustainability Specialist to lead our environmental and ESG strategy, ensuring robust governance, compliance and continuous improvement across the Group.
In this role, you will:
- Act as the Groups expert for Environment, Sustainability and ESG, providing guidance across all business units.
- Lead and govern Group-wide ESG and Environmental policies, standards and procedures.
- Design, develop and maintain Group-wide monitoring, measuring and reporting processes for environmental and ESG performance, including Scope 1-3 emissions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental and sustainability legislation.
- Manage environmental risks, impacts and continuous improvement activity.
- Lead and develop the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Build capability across the SHEQ team through coaching and support.
- Drive sustainability improvement projects, including carbon and waste reduction.
- Assure the quality and accuracy of environmental and ESG data.
- Support ESG communications and awareness campaigns.
- Provide expertise during environmental incidents and investigations.
- Engage in Group governance forums to ensure alignment and visibility.
- Liaise with regulators and external bodies to support compliance.
What will help you to excel in this role:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, ESG, Environmental Management or a related field.
- Professional membership (MIEMA/MISEP/CEnv) or working towards; Practitioner level acceptable if progressing to full membership.
- Strong experience in environmental, sustainability or ESG roles within multi-site or operational environments.
- Proven experience with ISO 14001, including audits, corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex environmental and ESG requirements to operational and senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with confidence in data assurance, reporting and trend analysis.
- Full UK driving licence.
