Bridgwater and Taunton College has a long and distinguished pedigree of delivering high quality counselling training over many years. The College offers introductory courses at level 2 and 3 and professional counselling training at level 4 and 5 that leads to successful learners meeting the requirements for professional registration with bodies such as the BACP. Learners undertake a mixture of face-to-face and online classes to develop skills and knowledge that reflect post-pandemic counselling requirements.

The post-holder could work across a wide variety of courses as a member of the counselling team or as a lead tutor for a specific programme or elements of a programme. You will be responsible for blending practical and theoretical learning in the classroom as well as developing good relationships with learners for the delivery of successful counselling training. Well-developed feedback to learners which models that of good clinical practice will be essential as well as the ability to work within an ethical framework.

Whilst the role of counselling lecturer focuses primarily on teaching, learning and assessment, associated administrative tasks such as preparation and delivery of agreed Plans of Learning, marking and working within the Quality Framework for associated Awarding Organisations will also be included. You may be involved in wider team activities such as new student interviews, open evenings, tasters and advice sessions. You can expect to be involved with our learners' journey at BTC right through from induction to end of course activities, supporting Course Leaders with quality systems such as Self-Assessment monitoring, internal moderation/verification, and standardisation activities. You may also support learners as a personal tutor.

You are expected to undertake CPD as appropriate to your role to ensure that learners benefit from up-to-date industry skills and practice to enable them to progress into meaningful and relevant employment or higher education.
