West Somerset College, part of Bridgwater & Taunton College Trust, is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly skilled SENCo to join our inclusive College. The successful candidate for this rewarding post will have completed, or be willing to complete, the National SENCo Award.

About the Role

This role is anticipated to be a varied and exciting one with opportunities for innovation particularly at the key points of transition. This person will also be expected to play a key role in leading the professional development of our colleagues to support them in delivering the best teaching and support for our students.

You will:

  • Determine the strategic development of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) policy and provision in the secondary phase
  • Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability
  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
  • Have strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice
  • Be an excellent communicator with a collaborative approach
  • Share our commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

This role is ideal for an experienced middle leader or an aspiring leader ready for their next challenge.
